Rain
Ok, I know I shouldn't complain, but this rain is really getting to this old desert rat. The storms come in quickly and furiously, either causing a huge dust storm, rain or both!!! The clouds at the left dropped lots of rain. Seeing how we have to conserve water and are being gouged by the water utilities, we welcome rain...don't have to water the lawn!
Now this pic shows the street as grass-free...it's called xerioscaping, or the use of natural rock, flora and fauna. We have grass...we love grass...we suffer for grass...we pay huge amounts of $$ for grass, but damn, we'll not give it up....nor our trees. What was I getting at???
Well, rain is great, but once the sun comes out, it's a steam oven. Many of us don't have central air conditioning, we use swamp coolers which just add to the moister. Our drawers and doors swell up, cabinet doors don't close till about October and the weeds attack us with a vengeance...that's for all the RoundUp we use during the dry season!!!
So here's my real gripe, my art work is suffering. My painted things don't dry fast as I'm used to, my paper clay things dry way too slowly for my patience and paper mache, forget about it!!! Alright, I'm just ranting because I'm taking too long to finish a quick project...have to wait for all the damn painted blocks to dry....bother. But there is a bright side to this, when everyone is under several feet of snow in the winter, we're lavishing in 50-70 degree weather and DRY!!!! So much for my griping....peace out!

The Tea Party
I feel terrible!!! I forgot about the Mad Hatter Tea Party. With all the activity going on here the last several days, I never checked my calendar. I was reminded by checking my Dashboard and it was a "doh" moment! I love all the wonderful parties everyone through and all the dressed up guests that attended. Well, I'll have to do better next year. The Penis Posse was here for 3 days, and I was lucky I could remember to brush my teeth!! eeeewwwww!!! Returned them to their father at O-dawn30 today...their father wanted them there early....attempting to take them to see the "Transformers"....Good LUck!!!
Hopefully, I'll get some much needed R&R the next couple of days before my baby girl and hubby come in this weekend for the 4th...I'm whooped! Peace Out.

More Stuff
Here are two more of my latest creations. The little skeleton bust is just too funny!!! I didn't want it to end I was having so much fun. And to think, I almost through out the head because I just felt it wasn't didn't think he was good enough, but as I began painting and embellishing, I had that wonderful magical moment....glad I gave him another chance.
The other creations is a special order; this is Jessica. You're probably wondering why I didn't give her a crazier name, well she's named after the original one I made for a young friend who graduated with her art degree a couple of years ago. Since then, I've made 2 more...all a little different from the original.
Well, I hear my little guys tearing up the guest room, so it's time for me to move on down the road and see the damage before I give them a piece of their Meama's mind!!! Peace out.
New Creations
Here's a pic of my latest. My sister asked me to make something for her guest bathroom that would look good under a print she has of a lady wearing calla lilies in her hair. So I came up with this little lady. Her body is made of paper clay and her flowers are of polymer clay. The flowers had to be made again since my little guy, Zach, decided he wanted to play with clay. I hadn't baked them yet, so they lay there on my work table ready to be rolled up in one big ball!!! Oiy vey!! It was really fun to make and I'll probably make more small busts after this one. She leaves for Phoenix, AZ next week in my nieces carry on bag, so she will be missed.
In a way, she reminds me of Josephine Baker...what do you think?

Under the Sea Swap
Just received my starfish in the mail and had to show her off. Her most wonderful creator is Stacy Martinez of sideoftheroadnews.blogspot.com. Isn't she just perfect...I love her. She now sits in an honorable place on my desk in my office.
Tracy, thanks so much for this terrific piece of work and hope you're enjoying Cha-Cha. I hope she hasn't gotten into any trouble since her arrival. Also, thanks again to Zan for all her hard work...this was the most fun exchange I've every joined. Have a great Thurs. night....peace out.

Father's Day
This picture was taken some years back when my Pop bought my mother her new "tank." I love this picture of the two of them. Back then, my Pop could still drive even though he was blind in one eye and still walk without too much discomfort. Those were the days!
This is the saddest day for me since this is the first Father's Day without my Dad. I hope he's enjoying his day playing on heaven's links and yucking it up with many of his old friends while having a brewsky. I can only imagine Mr. Karam telling my father he's so full of shit, Isela and Bob Redman with their sons, Bobo and Michael, telling jokes, Kiki sitting there talking about stuff, any stuff, Chinki, Scutter, and the "boys" having a great Mexican meal and hearing them all laugh as they enjoy each other's company. Yes, I can see it all...the smiles, the laughter, the bantering but the laughter mostly. Sounds of my childhood when they all entertained at each other's homes.
I miss you Pops and I miss your smile, your wonderful laughter and your stupid jokes....no one could tell a dumber joke than you and no one could ever laugh at them like me! Love you Pop and miss you....sending you many hugs and kisses and stupid jokes.

Blogs
Just a shorty today...have many little critters waiting for me in the studio, but I just wanted to mention a blog from a buddy of mine that lives in Albuquerque, NM. Her name is Linda and her blogs are just plain wonderful. They're funny, insightful, thought provoking...well, they're just down right great blogs. She's a newbie to this blog stuff, but you'd think she's been doing it for years. So do yourself a favour and go to her site and read on...I promise you'll like it!! Will publish some of my wips tomorrow...also participating in the Pink Artists drawing. Just finished my little silly piece of pink artwork, but can't publish it till later on.
So have a good Friday...my fav day of the week and peace out. Oh before I forget, here's Linda's link...http://lindaomasoldebaggsnstuftshirts.blogspot.com

This is Jessica. You wonder why the name "Jessica?" because I named her after a young friend that graduated a year after I did. Anyway, I got a special request to make another one. The second "Jessica" went the way of Etsy, but this friend of mine liked her so much, she's never forgotten her, so I'm in the process of making a third "Jessica."
My little guys are here from Austin staying with their father. I'm hoping to get a few days with them while they're in El Paso. My daughter is having "withdrawal" symptoms and missing them. I told her she'd get over it...if she doesn't, something's wrong with that girl!!!! As much as I love my youngest, when his father took him for a month in the summer, I was counting the days...before he left that is. I guess I'm just a terrible mother, but from what I've been told, there's a lot of us out there!!
Did some stuff in the studio yesterday. Haven't taken pics yet, but I'm working on more Muerto art...having a ball! Haven't added anything new to my Etsy shop; I'm waiting till I get lots of Halloweenee stuff and Muerto stuff done till I post. Also, I've been selling right out of my studio, so that also limits what I post on Etsy...not going to complian...no siree bob!
Well, today is Monday, so that means "Grocery Day with Mom." Last week she wanted to go to Wal-Mart....aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!! I have to have prior notice before I go there...need to get myself psyched for it....know what I mean??? She had no real list, so we went down every aisle....e-v-e-r-y f-r-i-g-g-i-n a-i-s-l-e!!!!!!!! Of course, this is right after school is out and every beaner in the world and thier kids, my mother, son and I included, were shopping!!! Valium please!!! OMG, was I exhausted when we returned home...she asked me why I was in such a big rush to get home...told her I had fudgesicles that needed freezing, again! So can't wait to see what she has in store for me again...hoping it's just a regular grocery store, like the one just a couple of miles away from her house....I heart Albertsons!!!
Last Wed. was just as traumatic. We went to the Ft. Bliss cemetery to put flowers on my Dad's grave...I had forgotten it would have been their 65th anniversary, so I had to battle the construction to the cemetery which was down to one lane and of course there are those who think they're so entitled and more important that those of us who wait our turn in line...almost was hit by some "witch" that thought she had the right to enter in front of me....my mother told me I should have hit her....she was driving a Kia and my mother has a tank by Buick! We went to the cemetery, where I also purchased some flowers for my ex father-in-law who is buried just on the other side of my Pop. Had help my son locate his Pappy's grave since he was just wandering around the area. We found it and he put the flowers down and he began to cry...he misses his Pap!
Ok, so after that, I asked her if she wanted to return to our side of town but she decided she wanted to go to the mall on the eastside of town, since we were pretty close. Sooo, off to the mall...I hate the mall!!! She loves J.C. Penny's and that's the only one in town and she was looking for specific things. I think she tried everything in the petite section and then some. Then after that, we had to go to the tile guy to see samples....how do you match up a floor with bright yellow tiled walls!!! We'll find out!!!
Well, I've rambled enough about my life with Mom...God, I love her! Just was told by my son that it's almost 9:30 and I need to get ready to go to my Mom's, so have a great Monday y'all and peace out.

Under the Sea Swap
Well here she is, Cha-Cha, a.k.a. Cher on Crack! I'll be mailing this little girl to my swap partner, Tracy Martinez at
http://sideoftheroadnews.blogspot.com.
Check out her blog...really wonderful stuff for those Halloweenee types.....like myself. I know, Cha-Cha is a bit gaudy, but as I was creating her, she just kept telling me to keep adding on the bling and fur!!!
I have her wrapped in bubble wrap and just need one of those padded envelopes to mail off. Hope Tracy enjoys her as much as I enjoyed making her.
Sending her a fair farewell and adieu...tear! Ok folks, peace out.
