Let Them Eat Cake

As some of you know, I love television. I'm no longer denying it, trying to convince you I just watch PBS, Discovery, National Geographic and History Channel should be easy, I do watch all the above and then some, quite a sum! I'm not into daytime, though, unless it's a good movie on TCM. I'm usually busy in the studio or taking care of other little things that need to be done...soaps, talk shows or silly judge shows, no way!! I recall how my Dad loved Judge Judy...he looked forward to see her every day. Several times I would sit with him and visit, then Judge Judy came along, I was dead to him!!

I am a fan of The Housewives of New York City and Orange County. As far as the other two, New Jersey and Atlanta, those are royal train wrecks!! You're thinking, "Oh no, Georgina, I thought you had ethics, scruples, smarts," well, dear fans, I do, but sometimes the baser side of us is exposed and this is my baser side exposed.

The Orange County bimbos seem to be a bit more down-to-earth in the sense they have suffered from our recent economic stuff and talk about it, even though they still get their botox, boob jobs, face lifts and trips to Cabo...they have their priorities. Then you have the women from New York City, they are hardly bimbos, five out of the six, are professional women that can stand alone without any help, well, at least that's what they want us to believe.

This season is about "GANG" loyalty. It's Ramona and Bethany against LuAnn, Jill and Kelly...Alex is trying to be Switzerland, but not all that successful...she's veering towards Romana and Bethany's Bitch Band. I watched all this in amazement, wondering if these women really know what's going on out in the REAL WORLD, and not the MTV version either, oey vey! These women are bickering over what the others are saying about them and vice versa. They are "do-gooders" because they have these lavish charities at Sachs 5th Avenue, Ungaro and attend shows during fashion week, one of them saying she only attends just a couple since she's not into fashion and is personal friends with these designers; how very honest of her, right? I won't be hard on Bethany, she's seen hard times.

Personally, I like these New York ladies because just like the movie theatre was a way of escapism for the regular people during the Great Depression, so is this show for me. I love hearing all the bickering, and kissy kissy on both cheeks when they hate each other and would rather put a knife in each others back. I find this very comical and entertaining. They remind of Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis the XVI. The royalty was clueless to what was happening right outside their palace walls and of course, it all came back to bite them in the gazorne..."Off with their heads!" Now I really doubt this will happen in our ladies in New York, but they too are equally clueless as to what's going on down here in the real mundo!! They have their charities, designer shoes and clothes, their homes in the Hamptons and have a really lovey life. I'm not at all envious of them and I don't feel sorry for them, ignorance is bliss after all, I love the show!

So dear friends, that's my opin and I'm sticking to it. Love the ladies and appreciate they give us a small bit of their lives to we, the voyeurs. Keep it up ladies, you have no idea how entertaining you are and make me realize just how blessed I am...think I'll tune in to TCM and see it "Putting on the Ritz," is playing. Peace out.

Disgusting Comment

My dear blogger friends, today's post will be short and without any humour. In my last post, the St. Patrick's greeting, I found a comment on my comment page. It was in an Asian country's characters, which I didn't recognize, possibly Chinese. Anyway, since I had no idea what was said, I decided to start clicking on certain characters and that's when I discovered a child pornography site. I couldn't click off fast enough!! The blogger's name is "hate," in case you receive a comment from this monster/monsters, turn them in...I did. Of course, this won't stop them, they'll just move on to another name under a different email address.

I have some Asian followers, but they're very nice, decent bloggers and they send their information in English. So just want to give you a heads up on what's happening. Have a great week and peace out.

Poppies, Geology & Colonoscopy

I'm sure the title of my blog got your attention, sure would get mine!!! Well, as I go into my rantings, you'll see some trace of organization to my thought processes since many of you already know me and some of my favorite things, you may not be surprised at all.

Yesterday, my honey and I decided to take a nice drive since it was sunny, clear and in the low 70's. Instead of running up to Las Cruces, NM, he wanted to take me through Trans Mountain Road to see the poppies growing on the NW part of the mountain. Trans Mountain connects the Westside of the city to the Northeastern section of the city, where many of our military live since it's where Ft. Bliss is located. So we begin our ascent up the road and to my left is our wonderful mountain range...red with ryolite and marble with running volcanic dikes and sills crossing the mountain cuts...a definite geologist dream. In fact, this entire area is a geologist's play ground since our geology is turned outward, so everything is in site.

I took geology like all good Liberal Arts students who didn't want to be burdened with such brain bashing subjects such as chemistry, physics, etc....you know what I'm talking about. It turns out I love geology and almost thought about making it a minor, but then I'd have to take all those "try" and "ics" subject, so I stayed on my art and lit. course. We took a field trip to Mt. Cristo Rey, a place where Mexican bandits like to hold up stupid geology students, but we got lucky that day!!
Then to Trans Mountain which was a whole introduction to Geology. I still have my collection of ryolite, marble and some garnets in the stone. Then it was up to Scenic Drive to climb up the windy hillside of the Franklin Mountains to see "squishies" and "crunchies" as our professors explained the fossils left in the stone!! LOL It was a great day and had a blast, but that was long ago when I could still see my feet!! LOL

Well, back to the poppies. I know you out there that our constantly surrounded by green, luscious flora and fauna think we're being silly about making such a fuss over those little yellow/orange flowers, but they are our eye candy around here. The Chihuahua Desert is not like the Sonoran Desert in AZ...we have no Saguraro Cactus and other beautiful coloured plants that grow there, so we appreciate anything that grows with some colour!! Depending on the amount of precipitation we get here, the poppies come up every Spring. This year we had lots of rain and snow, so we're looking at a bumper crop this year. In fact, we're going to have a Poppy Festival, which I hope my honey volunteers....he's a member a tree/green organization here in El Paso. WE LOVE OUR POPPIES!!!

Ok, now for the really funny stuff now that I have bored you with geology and poppies. On Thursday, I took my honey to the Endoscopy Centre for his very first colonoscopy!! I'm already a pro at this since my father was a colon cancer survivor, so we kids have to get them every 3-5 years...yuck!! The actual procedure isn't a big deal...you're put down with lots of great drugs, even a drug to make you forget if you woke up the middle of the procedure...never happened to me, but my sister, mother and daughter had that experience and they remember it. Now they have a drug to help you forget if you do...great! Well, I dropped him off and a couple of hours later, they called me to tell me he was ready. I was all set to pick up my very groggy honey, saying ugly meaningless jabber, but as I walked in, there he was sitting in a chair waiting for me. I was amazed since my previous experiences with my mother and sister were so different as my own. To my surprise, he was sitting in a chair in the recovery room waiting wearing a big smile as I entered the room and of course, his clothes for those of you who thought that's all he was wearing!! We sat there for the nurse to give us the ok and instructions for the next 24 hours. As she was explaining things to us, she whipped out this paper in the file and there it was, colour pics of my honeys colon...WHAT!!!!! I had to keep my composure since I wanted to just break out in uncontrollable laughter. She pointed out things that were viewed and so on. As we left the facility and entered the car, I asked him if he wanted 5x7's or how about a 8x10 for our hallway photo montage or perhaps wallets for the kids!! This was just too funny to to poke fun. We didn't know why they were now taking shots of our colons, perhaps people doubted the procedures since there are no real problems or after effects. But how do we know that's our colon...all colons look the same to the untrained eye, right???? Anyway, I plan to ask the nurse when I go for mine next month when I'm being prepped for the procedure since this is something new for me.

Well, folks it's time for me to shut down this 'puter and get my day started at 1:12 p.m....well, get something going anyway. Have a great, productive week and let me know what size pic you want when I get mine!!! I think wallets are a good size!!!! Peace out.

Happy Unbirthday To Me

Can't seem to find my notebook with the list of interesting things I observed or partook during my hiatus. I do recall introducing my mother to the word, "shart!" She told me the other day as I was driving down her driveway, that she had some bowel problem. She's lactose intolerant and the combination of ice cream laced with Splenda, a lot of Splenda, and the cheese stix must have caused her problem. Kidding with her, I told her how much I love our little care and share moments, she then continued about her problem saying she went as far as having to change her underwear...ok, TMI, right? Nah, you know me and potty humour. I then told her she had done a "shart," and she had no idea what I was talking about so I enlightened her concerning the above word combination. Well, she laughed so hard, I told her to be careful or we would have to return home for her to change again!!! For those of my bloggy buddies who speak the Es-panich, we called that kind of gas, "!pedos acompaniados!" LOL

Another incident was a frantic call I got from my daughter earlier this week. She said she was pregnant, again! My gawd, I couldn't believe it!! She's on the birth control shot, she's still breast feeding and I think her husband is hearing a lot of "just say no!" So how could this be??!!?? Long story short, she has problems with ovarian cysts and after a long wait at the hospital and a sonogram, she had a cyst the size of a 9 week old fetus, sending out all those wonderful hormonal messages to her bod telling her she's knocked-up again, NOT!!! I can't tell you how we all were relived it was just a cyst and not a bebe. She wants more, but not right now. She was applying for teaching jobs when it hit her she needed to take a preggers test. Now this was an old test and was not in the box, so when she took the test, it gave her a positive reading, soon after followed with a smidgen of hysteria, calling her father and me, friends and finally a visit to the ER. So the girl calls me up on Thursday telling me she is a total moron! She was at the store when she saw the the box brand of the test she took. Turns out she read it wrong, no box remember, and she had misread the symbols thus complaining that she wasted $200 for nothing...yep, a big maroon

Well, now to my happy unbirthday gift for me, I decided I wanted something to celebrate having my life back...some would go out for a special meal or have that horribly decadent chocolate cheesecake or buy a diamond, etc., etc., etc. Since I will be going to the mall for daily walks, I wanted a musical devise to listen to my Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi music. My hubby bought me one after completing my B.A. 5 years ago, but now with this new fangle computer that has Windows 7, my MP3 player is a no go. Called these folks for help and it just wasn't going to happen unless I buy their drives for my hard drive....can you say, "stick it!" So I transferred money to my debit card, after I did a little research on what I could afford and met my standards, I drove down to Best Buy and bought myself one...an 8GB Sansa Fuze by SanDisk...my flash drive is the same brand, so I'm satisfied. I wanted to keep it under $100 and the product is, but then when the saleman suggested the 2 year warranty package, you know, protects you if you drop the bloody thing or have other little disasters with it. Before I could say anything my son, Ian, spoke up and said I am a royal clod and that I probably need that...going to send him to time out!! Plus, I remembered my poor cell phone with it's Rorschach blot on my front window...when I first dropped it, it looked like the Big Bang, but now it looks like a chicken on crack. So I gave in and bought the warranty...went over my limit, but now we're are both protected except if it gets immersed in water!! I'm not around a lot of water unless it's the shower or the...oh yea, better not wear it when I go potty...don't want to drop my MP3 player at the pool!!!

Well, that it for now. This week I'll be taking Miss Daisy on her usual jaunts and DH to get his colonoscopy on Thurs...whoo, whoo sounds like a busy week for the G!!! Have a great week and as usual, Peace out.

I'm Back

I'm back, my bebes and can't wait to post a new newsy blog soon. Right now I'm just too joyous, elated and doing my happy dance. The big dragon has been put to rest and now just have to deal with the little stuff, but not a problem. I won't go into any details, but I was facing some pretty nasty health issues....anywhere from terminal to nasty serious blood letting!!! You know how these docs are, they give you the details of what could happen so I went into depression mode.

So here I am and ready to write again. I've kept track on some really funny and/or odd observations, conversations and incidences...now to find my little notebook. So I'll be here soon enough ready with my wit, wrath, and blabber and pics of some of my newest creations. Love ya all, and peace out.
