BU-ICK, EUR-OPE

Those were the words I was uttering as the jalapeno popper from hell began it's slow tortuous descent down to my intestines. Sunday night, DH and I had a farewell party for our daughter, son-in-law and baby Aiden. I hadn't eaten that much since I was still getting over my lack of sleep from Sat. morning, oh, Sunday morning...went to bed at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning....got up at 10...oey vey....what a weekend I had!!

My honey thought he'd make some poppers, at about 10:30 Sunday night, made with fresh jalapenos from Hatch, NM. They were delish, till 4:30 a.m. Monday morning. I had 1 1/2 and they were gooood, but I was just too tired to even finish the 2nd one, so I put it down and my son decided he'd finish it up. Thankfully, no one else was affected by these devilish little morsels, but my sweet man and I were down for the count. He never calls in sick, but yesterday was an exception...poor guy, he was worse off than me, since he ate many more.

Ok, there's a little silver lining to this story, my honey took another day off just because he realized he's just "beat up" from having the kids here for a little over 2 weeks and and trying to keep up with those yung'uns, so he decided just needed a mental health day now, however, he is going into the office for a couple of hours now but will return to spend the rest of the day with me. I'm planning on going into my studio and do some more Halloweenie work and take pics of my newest little something. Have a great day and peace out.

OMG!!!! Georgina, only you can write about this humorously! Sorry for the offending poppers---I'm dealing with my own DH health issues here and I hope it doesn't take a turn and go THAT WAY!
I have officially joined the old fart club....there is no denying it... ;)
Take it easy.

Georgina, I love jalapeno poppers. I can eat a bunch of them. I haven't made any in some time but now you got me thinking about them. Glad you had a nice time saying farewell to your daughter and family. Have a great Wednesday and pop those poppers! :D

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to survive!! Hopefully, will get into that studio tomorrow and get in gear...spending time with Miss Daisy today (my nick name for my mother). Abi, jalapeno poppers are whole jalapenos, stuffed with cheese, my husband's uses cream cheese and wraps them up in bacon. They are then grilled and when the temp. cools down a bit, you pop them in your mouth, however in this case, we bit into them since they were hu-eg. Some are stuffed with cheese, coated in some type of bread crumbs and deep fat fried. Hope this clarifies it a bit.

As for "getting back on that Along with the jalapenos, the memory is still too fresh!!!! LOL

So I have to admit to confusion about how you got sick from poppers? (given that they're just cheese-which you would notice if it was bad-and jalapenos)

Or were y'all just done in by the jalapenos themelves?

I'm dreading the day I have to stop eating jalapenos...both my father and my grandfather had to eventually.

OH! that had to hurt! I can't handle jalapenos myself but I used to pull poppers apart and eat the cheese and crusty breading and a friend of mine would gobble up the peppers.
Glad you are feeling better and got quality time with your love!
I can't wait to see your newest little something!

Yummi, yum yum! I looooooove jalapeno poppers! I make mine with the jalapenos that grow in the garden and they are just fiery! But I guess they are addictive, once you have one you have to go one and have more! The guys at home suggested I make habanero poppers! Aie! Caramba! Bring the cold cervez over! Love your blog, Georgina, and your colorful spirit! Take care, LuLu
