The Day After Thanksgiving

Good morning all you wonderful people out there in blogland, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I couldn't find a recent family pic in my pic folder, so I pulled this one taken back in in the early 70's. I couldn't believe how beautiful we all were, well, we still are, but in a more spiritual way! LOL I still can't get over my bro in that Miami Vice jacket, even though this pic is older than the series. Maybe Fred should have just kept up the look and the costume designers would have to come up with something new for Crockett!! LOL We were all so young and looking forward to the future. Ironically enough, my ex took that picture of us...wonder what happened to that ceramic horse??? L-R, me, my Dad, Mom, Letty, Fred and seated is little bro, Jaime.

Our family dinner at my brother's, a.k.a., Sonny Crockett, house was wonderful...we ate entirely too much but I did stop with the meal and had no more room for dessert, homemade cheesecake, my pumpkin and apple pies. It was so much fun as we all sat around the table and thoroughly entertained my sister's best friend from Phoenix. Terry came along with my sister and niece. She has such a fractured, toxic relationship with her own family in CA, my sister wanted her to see how a "normal" and I say that loosely, family operates. Of course the subject matter was mostly about my Pops...I know he was present and laughing his arse off at our reminiscing.

However, when you get the Diaz family together the conversation always deteriorates to the most simple and basest subjects of all at a dinner table, potty humour. Don't know why we do, but we find flagellants, feces, hemorrhoids and even boogers, very funny. As mothers, my sister and I brought up our children around such humour as now I do with my own little brood of grand babies (they're better than I can ever be, but they're boys, what do you expect?). I think it all started with my beautiful, intelligent, adorable niece who began having some "wind" problem. Excuse me if I say, but she had a very chatty ass!!! Well, the conversation went down hill from there. My sister's friend was laughing harder than the rest of us, so now she knows how a REAL family behaves, NOT!!! hahahahha!!! But who said we were normal...those of you who really know me, know better. "The apple don't fall far from the tree!"

So my friends, I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, full of laughter, memories and so much love, gratitude and lots of left-overs. Well, I need to call my daughter and see what happened, she just texted me and told me we're going to have to change the Christmas menu since she never wants to see another turkey again in her life!!! Me thinks she over indulged, oh well, maybe we can have the Christmas roast or easier yet, the Christmas hot dogs!! Peace out.

ROFLMAO!!!!!
Well, it sounds like when I was young and Dad would end up half crocked, and someone would be telling dirty jokes and there would be a fight going in the other room, my one oldest Aunt never knew what was going on....good thing!....and it would deteriorate in everyone suddenly going home.
Isn't that normal???
DH and I had a good evening with a simple meal but yummy---ate too much, drank not quite enough---I could still walk up the stairs straight and over all, a fun time!
And it sounds like the same for you---glad it was!
Enjoy your day; no Black Friday for me. I'm not that dumb.....or I'm not willing to be sitting in prison when someone invaded my space.....LOL!!!

XXOO!!

This really is a lovely family -portrait.
But you are right, it is allways funny to see the cloth one used to wear.
The last decades where full of fashion- sins (hehehe)

Oh wacky woman, it sounds wonderful. We too had a nice dinner but not crazy in the least. I had an 86 year old friend come over to share the feast and we all were on our best behavior. Ms. Mildred is a hoot, but she doesn't know she is, so we kept up appearances. After she went home GK asked if we could go back to being us. Ouch. So we did and the rest of the evening was fun with Americana Trivial Pursuit and more dessert.
As for the traditional Christmas feast...at our house, because I worked in the church, we had pizza on Christmas Eve cuz I had to work. And on Christmas day, rellenos, beans, "sofa pillows" with honey and green chili chicken enchiladas. We only had turkey on turkey day. Poor daughter, maybe the turkey was bad to her. Shelley had a turkey be bad to her one year. It forgot to tell her to take the stuff from the insides out and OMG, we all almost died. HEHEHEHEHEHE
I'm so glad you had a super day. B&G, Linda

SOunds like a wonderful lively family gathering ... my family was so pulled together and formal - even with each other - we wouldn't show any real emotion in a plane crash LOL.

...and you were GORGEOUS!!!

OMGoodness toooo funny! Oh I adore the photo of your family!!! You are all SO beautiful! I had that hair too, only mine was past my butt...of course today if I wanted hair that long it would need to be six inches LONGER to make it past my butt! So glad you had a lovely Thanksgiving with your family.

So glad you had such a fun Thanksgiving! I love the old photo! If only we had known how gorgeous we were at that age so that we could have appreciated it instead of finding silly faults with ourselves! At least I know how critical I was of myself back then and how I'd love to look like that now! Ha! Anyway we're still beautiful!...in a spiritual way like you said! LOL!...wistful sigh.

Awe, thank you for you condolences on my mishap...hubby was putting up lights outside as I stepped onto the front porch and had a silent scream. His reaction:
"I'm just glad it was you, not me!"
