Ebay

Good Morning All! Hope you all had a great evening. After reading some of the blogs, seems many had lots of Halloween...as a matter of fact, I noticed some the regs haven't posted yet....hmm, could it be a bit too much of the witches brew!! LOL Well, I say let's carry this fun into the next holiday....CHRISTMAS!!!!!! Holy cow, if it's not one thing, it's another!!!

Ok, folks, need some marketing advise....not asking you what your secret selling tactics are, just need some feedback on which venue has worked better for you. I'm contemplating going over to Ebay to sell my work. I'm on Etsy for now, but I haven't been very successful there. I know times are rough and people are holding on to their $$, but the Christmas season doth approacheth very soon!!!

So if you would consider telling me what and why you like a particular venue, I shall be eternally grateful for your advise. Have some great pics of grandchildren in their Halloween costumes, but still haven't posted (oh boy, here she goes with the grandkids again!!). Have a great week and peace out.

Happy Sunday! :)

I've not been on Ebay as of yet, but I JUST opened up my Etsy shop a couple of months ago and my sales are starting to come in. In fact, I just received a special custom order. Hang in there.

Also, did you know you could place an Etsy thumnail on your blog? That helps and people will check out your art from there.

Secondly, have you tried offering some sales on your shop? Like...buy a specific item and receive another item free?

Just my thoughts. This is my 2nd Etsy shop. My first one was a great success as well. I just changed the name of my art studio. :)

Have a great day!

I've sold on both. I prefer etsy. I renew items often. This works well for me on the weekends and in the evenings.
Ebay is ok and I have had sales. Some artists really do well with ebay. You never know until you try it. Good luck and I wish you many holiday sales! :)

I like Etsy, although I don't have a shop. But I like the way the transactions are handled....simple. I've actually thought about having a shop there, but I guess Im just slow at making a decision.

Whatever you choose, wish you great success!

Hey Georgie girl. Halloween was quite eventful here. I'll go into that later. Had too much fun. As to your question. I have a store on Etsy but have not yet posted anything. As far as Ebay. Been selling for 4 years steady. Sales on "things", collectible, thingamabobs, crafty supplies, odd junk, fantastic......my own creations...kinda luke warm, but maybe that's because I am personally connected to my things that it feels that way. Although all of my DOTD dolls (12) of them sold the first time I listed them. What the heck, give Ebay a try. Tell ya what, I'll help you with Ebay if you'll help me with Etsy. How's that for a deal. Such a deal I'm gonna give you.
Blessings and goats, Linda

I use both - but I prefer Etsy. I do sell regularly there - but, it did take a little while to get going.

I like using both, since the listings on etsy are SO cheap, one can list them there AND on eBay. If they sell on eBay, great, just delete it from your etsy shop - if not, they're still listed on etsy.

What I don't like about eBay is that you DO take a chance on things going for very little money. I've noticed - unless somebody is a well known name - having high opening bids or reserves keep people from bidding.

Good luck - it's scary that Christmas is so close, isn't it?!

Georgina, those comments were great. I don't have any idea whatsoever about which is best since I don't do either. I like Etsy and I have been to Ebay but I just don't like the idea that you have to put personal information about yourself when you sign up. I'm sure you'll do well on Etsy once things get going. Whatever you decide, good luck and let us know what you decide. Happy Dia de Los Muertos.

HO HO HO!!!! haha! Hi Georgina! I'm on etsy, and some times things sell a lot and sometimes they don't. :) I think magikalseasons is right to renew often on etsy. For some reason, I didn't think that worked any more, but I guess it must. Puts your work across Time Machine again, etc. I think sales will pick up now that Halloween is over. My game plan is to list new things and a lot of them. Of course, that means I should be working HARD.
So I'll get back at it!!! xoxox Pam

Thanks for your advise all. I'll stick with Etsy for now and see what happens, but I'm strongly considering Ebay starting next year. Sure Linda, I'll help you. The last person I helped with Etsy turned out to be golden...she's selling like crazy, so perhaps I'll pass that magic spell on to you!! LOL And I agree on constantly turning new work in...but damn life keeps getting in the way!!! LOL Again ,thanks all and I will take all this advise and do something with it!!

xxoo,
Georgina

Well, I have an Etsy shop but I have not yet listed anything! I think I have a BLOCK! In my head or maybe in my hand, but I AM going to get it going (soon, soon OK! anyway...) I have sold several paintings in the past on Ebay. My advice is not to put a Reserve on your item but start the bidding at your lowest price you are willing to take. Also....do your homework on when the bidding ends. usually Sunday night is a good night because people are sitting around surfing the computer on Sundays... maybe, check out if something is special is on TV or whatever that night. Also research other peoples work that is similar to what you are selling. Make sure you are listing where it's selling...like maybe it's wiser to put it under "primitives" instead of Direct from Artist/ Paintings. Also use good tags like Folk, Primitive, Outsider, Naive.... am I making sense? or am I rambling? I'm not used to this time change yet!... anyway I say list NOW if you are going to list on Ebay because people are getting ready to buy now for the holidays and are going to be broke again afterwards...Sooo I gotta go and make something to sell!!! Good luck!!

Again, I am no help! I may be missing it, for my eyes are old and wrinkly, but I do not see a link for your ETSY shop on your blog... As a shopper, I personally prefer ETSY. In fact, I have never made a bid on EBAY. I tend to purchase items from the blogs rather than randomly search ETSY. **blows kisses** Deb
