Let Them Eat Cake
As some of you know, I love television. I'm no longer denying it, trying to convince you I just watch PBS, Discovery, National Geographic and History Channel should be easy, I do watch all the above and then some, quite a sum! I'm not into daytime, though, unless it's a good movie on TCM. I'm usually busy in the studio or taking care of other little things that need to be done...soaps, talk shows or silly judge shows, no way!! I recall how my Dad loved Judge Judy...he looked forward to see her every day. Several times I would sit with him and visit, then Judge Judy came along, I was dead to him!!
I am a fan of The Housewives of New York City and Orange County. As far as the other two, New Jersey and Atlanta, those are royal train wrecks!! You're thinking, "Oh no, Georgina, I thought you had ethics, scruples, smarts," well, dear fans, I do, but sometimes the baser side of us is exposed and this is my baser side exposed.
The Orange County bimbos seem to be a bit more down-to-earth in the sense they have suffered from our recent economic stuff and talk about it, even though they still get their botox, boob jobs, face lifts and trips to Cabo...they have their priorities. Then you have the women from New York City, they are hardly bimbos, five out of the six, are professional women that can stand alone without any help, well, at least that's what they want us to believe.
This season is about "GANG" loyalty. It's Ramona and Bethany against LuAnn, Jill and Kelly...Alex is trying to be Switzerland, but not all that successful...she's veering towards Romana and Bethany's Bitch Band. I watched all this in amazement, wondering if these women really know what's going on out in the REAL WORLD, and not the MTV version either, oey vey! These women are bickering over what the others are saying about them and vice versa. They are "do-gooders" because they have these lavish charities at Sachs 5th Avenue, Ungaro and attend shows during fashion week, one of them saying she only attends just a couple since she's not into fashion and is personal friends with these designers; how very honest of her, right? I won't be hard on Bethany, she's seen hard times.
Personally, I like these New York ladies because just like the movie theatre was a way of escapism for the regular people during the Great Depression, so is this show for me. I love hearing all the bickering, and kissy kissy on both cheeks when they hate each other and would rather put a knife in each others back. I find this very comical and entertaining. They remind of Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis the XVI. The royalty was clueless to what was happening right outside their palace walls and of course, it all came back to bite them in the gazorne..."Off with their heads!" Now I really doubt this will happen in our ladies in New York, but they too are equally clueless as to what's going on down here in the real mundo!! They have their charities, designer shoes and clothes, their homes in the Hamptons and have a really lovey life. I'm not at all envious of them and I don't feel sorry for them, ignorance is bliss after all, I love the show!
So dear friends, that's my opin and I'm sticking to it. Love the ladies and appreciate they give us a small bit of their lives to we, the voyeurs. Keep it up ladies, you have no idea how entertaining you are and make me realize just how blessed I am...think I'll tune in to TCM and see it "Putting on the Ritz," is playing. Peace out.

Hey sweets I finally was able to get on your blog!!!!!!! And as for loving mindless tv I do not have calbe so I do not watch tv but I can NEVER pass up a People mag or Us mag in a waitng room etc!! TEE HEE
Hi Georgina. I have never watched The Housewives. I only know it's about a lot of killing, fighting and bickering, and sex? At least that's what I hear about it on TV. I once started to watch it, but got bored. Want to know what I watch? Let's see...hmmmm...Okay I'll admit I watch General Hospital and have for decades, PBS, History, Jeopardy, CNN, Ugly Betty although it's going off the air and sometimes a movie or two on the TV. One day I will watch a full episode of housewives, but if I do, I may get hooked:D Take care and have a great rest of the day.
Oh you bad, bad girl. Just so long as we don't lose you to The Tool Academy or Keeping up with the Kardashians you're okay. Hell, half the world watches dancing with the bafoons and thinks it's primo prime tv so who can judge who? I watch NCIS, Lost, White Collar, Flash Forward, and two filmed here in Burque...In Plain Sight and Breaking Bad. And I can tell you, since no one else is gonna see this......I watch Orange County Housewifes while doing dishes....oops it's out there. TeeHee
Vert word.denails, they can say they don't watch smutty TV but I don't believe their denails.
B&G cutie
I luv ya Georgina but... I just can't watch that stuff. Just the thought makes me vomit a little in my mouth. I live in an area where there are several towns bunched together. Each town has it's own different "personality". I work across the river and interact with the "rich housewife" type all day, even when they are at the grocery store they have their heels on. The town to the east is populated with a lot of people who shop in sweats that look like they slept in them. Fortunately the town I live in is very eclectic and the homes are mostly old. I love that huge massive houses have tiny little homes squeezed in between them. My town is pretty friendly without too many "airs" and people smile and say "hi" or "what kinda dog is that?".
But of course if you head west and go down the hill, well...someone might shoot you in the head but... I guess that's why I don't need TV too much. I can just drive around for entertainment!
XOXO - Cindi
LOL - I'm also a tv watcher - but I can't stand The Housewives of (fill in the blank) shows LOL. They make me crazy.
I tend to prefer scripted tv shows (Criminal Minds, Damages, Southland, etc.). But I do watch the reality shows American Idol, Hoarders, Project Runway and Drag Race.
Georgina, I love you DEARLY...BUT...(here it comes!).....how can you sit through this stuff??? I mean that as a serious question as I don't watch Am. Idol, any of the *reality* shows, etc. I must live in a time warp.
About the only thing I will fight for the remote for is an episode of "Bones" and that's because even with all the distractions, I love the science in it and the way the female lead is so literal and out of touch with others in the world. (hey, that sounds familiar!)
I guess I just do not *get it*....so call me Dr. Brennan.....I'm Queen of the Lab!
LOL!!!!
XXOO!!
Anne
P.S. But if watching these makes you happy, then that is GOOD! I am happy too!
Oh, Georgina - you bad girl. LOL!!! haha! Here is the truth: the reason I don't watch those shows is because I KNOW I will get hooked, and pretty soon I will be calling you on the phone saying things like "What's with Bethany? I thought she already had a boob job!" hahaha! And then I would get nothing done, ever. You have fun, watch your shows, and maybe there are some dolls coming from you to reflect these lovely ladies. I think it's all research!! hee hee!! xox Pam
Hey Georginna! You gotta indulge in a little badness once in awhile, right? LOL! As for me, I hardly watch TV at all. But there is ONE show my Sweetie and I watch together and try hard not to miss: Chuck. It's on Nbc on Mondays at 7 and it's a mix of James Bond with comedy and romance. We ♥ it! And it's probably the ONLY tv show we'll watch together, cause Hubby is always flipping channels and it drives me nuts! So I just usually retire to my sewing room/computer room. But Chuck is special, and it's about young people, so it gives you a glimpse into that elusive world we can no longer call our own, LOL!
Happy Easter weekend to you!
Chris :-)
XOXO

Be true to yourself...escapism is a wonderful tool for avoiding the pressures of the real world. I always wonder where the money comes from??? and I notice the lack of original art is their expensive surroundings...Happy Easter dear friend and thank you for your kindness and loving support.
