Well, here I am with my babies, my youngest son, Ian and my 3 wonderful grandsons. The grands were here visiting their father for Spring Break and I had an opportunity to spend a few hours with them. This pic was taken at my mother's house in the backyard. We had to visit the "Baba." They miss their Pop-Pop a lot and mentioned it after we left my mother's that it was strange without him there.

I took them to an exhibition at a downtown museum, The Lynx, which had this wonderful interactive robot show. The kids got to play with all kinds of great projects and they had replicas of 2 of my favorite robots, Klatu from "The Day the Earth Stood Still," and Robbie the Robot from many motion pictures but more famous for him yelling "Danger, danger, Will Robinson!" My youngest little man loved Klatu, so I think I'm going to make him a Klatu puppet!

It was sad to say goodbye to them, but I know they were looking forward to returning home to Austin to their mommy, my baby girl, and their soon to be step dad. They'll be back in the summer so I'll have them a little longer then. Their father has always been very nice about my seeing them and spending time with them.

Yesterday we had a birthday party for my other little man, Aiden. He turned 1 year last week, but his fraternal grandparents came in for the weekend so we waited. He was so exhausted later on, I gave him a warm bath, a baby lotion massage and held him while he drifted off to sleep. The most wonderful feeling is holding a sleeping baby....great for the high blood pressure!!

I'm going to be very busy this next week. Am taking my mother on a road trip to Phoenix, AZ. My sister and niece live there and we're going for a visit. We're planning on stopping in Tucson to have lunch with one of my mother's dear friends, picking up some tamales de elotes (tamales made with white corn...a specialty in that part of AZ from that northern area of Mexico where my maternal family is from) then head up to Phoenix. We'll be staying at my sister's new house, then leave early, the 31st, and head back down to Tucson to have breakfast with another friend of my mom's and pick up the rest of the tamales.

Am working on some new things, my little paintings. I'm just about done with 3 of them and two more on the way. Hopefully, I can finish everything by Tuesday so I can post them Wed. Well, I hear my blue eyed little man in the living room....guess he came back to return the blanket I had him in last night before they left. Peace out.

New Direction

This is Cosmo, my wannabe steam punk character. I had this asparagus can on my work table for several months. It had been geesoed already, apparently I had another idea for it some time back and I don't recall for what now...that's when menopause works for you!!! Anyway, I had the head ready to go, but hadn't figured out what body I was going to create for it. Well, Cosmo then gave me a gentle suggestion and I looked over at the can...WHAM!!! The idea went off and the rest is history. He's now listed in my Etsy shop ready for someone to give him a loving home.

I've been doing some research on what's selling and discovered through Etsy, magazines and such and found that little paintings seem to be very popular. A lot of them resemble one of my favorite artist, L.S. Meserol who creates these wonderful, whimsical and very funky little paintings and mixed media work. Well, I decided I'm going to try my hand at making mini-paintings for my Etsy shop.

I'm not abandoning my doll making, no way, but I'm going to just step out of my little zone and see what happens. It's funny, but I used to do this sort of thing in my previous life (before the divorce) and I was pretty successful....was getting there anyway. That's why I really have struggled with this idea since it's part of my past which I left behind long ago. Also, I'm thinking I went to college, majored in art just to fall back on what I knew before school!!!??? Seems a little bit silly, but I have taken much of what I've learned and it's reflected onto my work, so school was every bit worth it, plus, I got a B.A. out of it.

So I'm off to the old/new Georgina Land and see what develops. Peace out.

Big OOPS

The following blog was published in the wrong spot. I thought I was on my personal blog and wrote that, just to hit publish and discover it was in one of my group blogs...how dumb is that. I guess that's what you call a senior moment or just plain stupid moment...dee-tee-ree. I did copy and paste it here in my personal blog, though...right in it's proper place!!

No Likey No More

I just came across something really funny, I've been eliminated from someones favorite list on Etsy. Once she liked me, now she doesn't....what's all that about. I haven't done anything offensive, nor is my work controversial, but but the artist decided she didn't like me anymore!!

Hate to admit it, but I wish I knew why she erased me from her life by a click on an X in a box in her "Favorites." I know she found one of my dolls, actually, the name and story of one of my dolls, questionable because she took it very personally, but that was back in November...I thought we had worked this out...she didn't like the name of the doll, her opinion made, and I didn't change the name, artist's perogative. I'm not going to be bullied by anyone. She was the only one who found it offensive because she had many problems stemming from her childhood. I'm very sorry for her life, really I am, but how is it I'm involved with that? I told her my son is autistic and was on similar meds as she. My son has very big shoulders and has a love for life and video games!!! LOL

I had a very dear friend who years ago told me that if begin to feel sorry for myself or take my life too seriously, it will eat me from the inside out. Her suggestion...laugh...not at him, but with him. She's an expert on this subject since her oldest child has learning disabilities and other serious disorders. My son was the one who would point out the kids in his special ed. class that were crazy or just liked to clap and smile a lot! Believe you me, it wasn't easy to keep a serious face at the Special Olympics either...he would tell me some of the kids there just weren't right in the head...now this is the pot calling the kettle black!

I explained to my older 2 children that life should be taken as a blessing and their little brother is a blessing. My daughter's taken this to heart...she's pregnant with her 4th, going through hell with this pregnancy, but wants to repeat it in another 2 years after this one is born!! Unfortunately, my oldest son didn't get the message...he's a very angry young man.

Anyway, I digress, disabilities are a fact of life, no matter how one developed them, born with them, or it just happened....who knows. All I know is that I don't take life too seriously and perhaps that's why I'm a very happy person. I don't have a big house nor do I drive a new car nor can we take a vacation every year, but I'm sooo blessed and sooo happy with my life. I have a wonderful family and friends and I couldn't ask for anything else other than maybe losing about 80lbs., in the process of that, and new carpeting throughout the house.

I think I'm going back and make her a favorite of mine (xed her out too from my favs) not to prove anything, but because I truly love her work! And I'll pray for her and others who are suffering within themselves due to crap that's happened in their lives....like so many of us. Peace out.

Windy Spring

Made this Paella a couple of weeks ago for my brother's birthday. Turned out soo good and the New Zealand Green Mussels were outstanding. For dessert I made Flan and sadly, there were few leftovers which I gave, reluctantly, to my brother, after all, it was his birthday gift from me.

The Spring winds are blowing as usual. We do lots of real estate exchanges with New Mexico and Mexico, but that's Spring in the Southwest. I still prefer it to the snow and blast of cold winter weather that the rest of the country is experiencing. I suppose it's all what you're used to.

Completed a doll the other day, but I'm not happy with her. Don't you hate it when you've put so many hours into a piece and you end up throwing it away, or thinking you should. The idea was good, the execution, excellent, the finished piece, sucky!!! I put her up on the wall so she can start bothering me about fixing her...I hate when my dolls become bitchy!

Made this great charm bracelet for my sister's birthday. I bought a charm necklace from a friend who was going out of business. It's gorgeous...all religious charms and then some. She tried to talk me out of buying it since she felt I was quite capable of making one, but why make one when I can buy it for a great price. Anyway, she had some necklace kits already, so I bought a couple and when my sis saw my necklace, she asked me if I could make her a bracelet. I intended to make it for Christmas, but for those of you who have read my older blogs, you know that wasn't going to happen. I'll be taking it to her in a couple of weeks when my mother and I leave for Phoenix to visit her.

Speaking of that. I'm not sure I'm looking forward to this since my mother is always complaining about my driving. I like petal to the metal!!! I already told her if she starts complaining about my driving, I'm going to drop her off at the next rest stop and leave her there. Of course I'm not going to do that, but she drives me nuts!!! Love my Mom, but oey vey!!!!

Well, need to run. The hubby, son and I are going to look at Smokers, no, not people who stand around the sides of buildings taking their tobacco breaks, but meat smokers. Been wanting one for years, so now we have the time!!! Peace out.

Been Busy

As you can see, I've been a very busy lady. I posted my funny Bago-Lady on Etsy today and already I have a buyer. My olive can "Happy Guy" is going to a PIF recipient from last Sept. or October. I feel so awful about taking so long in getting it her, with everything that went on in Nov. and Dec., it was almost impossible to do anything for the exchange. So off he he goes to a very patient lady in MD. My Lady Val is up for sale, though. She was a mess to make. I'm still finding those little red threads everywhere!! But don't you think she's a hoot?

Yesterday, I catered a small gathering of my mother's friends at her house. A very dear friend from Dallas came in for the weekend to spend time with her, so my mom honoured her by having a small gathering of old friends she could visit with while in town. I made baked rigatoni and for dessert, Oatmeal Bars...soo easy to make. My mom made a huge salad and the always welcomed buttered bread to scoop up all that deliciousness!! My brother's girlfriend made her wonderful, moist brownies to add to the dessert tray. There was also wine...lots of it!!! LOL

My mother's friend leaves today so I know my mother will have withdrawl symptoms after her departure. I figured my mother's activities for the last few days will eventually lull her into taking many naps the next few days!

Well, I have to get going here. Still have a plugged up kitchen sink and now the dishwasher is on the blink. When it rains, it pours! Oh well, that's life so one must roll with it or you'll die from worrying. Peace out!
